The Worcestershire Festival 2022 and the MCF

Festival 2022 Jewel.png

The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty, and fairness. Freemasons are taught to practise charity and to care, not only for freemasons in distress but also for the community as a whole, both by charitable giving, and by voluntary efforts and work as individuals.

From its earliest days, Freemasonry has been concerned with care of the young, the sick, the aged and others in distressed circumstances. This work continues today. In addition, large sums are given to national and local charities. Masonic charity is exercised at every level: individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own communities and Provinces also support large regional causes.

In Worcestershire our charitable work is carried out under the auspices of both the ‘THE WORCESTERSHIRE FREEMASONS CHARITY’ Charity Registration number 1204423 and the Festival Fund Raising system.

Each Province is asked once in every 11 years to enter Festival for a 5-year period and fundraise for the MCF (www.mcf.org.uk).  The Festival System in English Freemasonry has been in place for many years and is rotated between Provinces. Each year, 4 of the 47 Provinces enter their next Festival and knowing when this is, allows them to plan carefully for the task ahead.

The Worcestershire 2022 Festival in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) was launched by its President, the Provincial Grand Master, in January 2017 and because of the pandemic, had been extended slightly to April 2023. Over this period the Province, through charitable donations and fundraising events such as online quizzes, raffles, gala balls, sponsored zip line weekend, walking on hot coals, walking up Mont Blanc, in fact, any fun fundraising event, we successfully exceeded our target of £2,022,000 raising an incredible £2,109,672.

We would like to thank all donors for supporting the Worcestershire 2022 Festival Appeal in support of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons Charity)

The MCF builds better lives by encouraging opportunity, promoting independence and improving wellbeing for Freemasons, their families and the wider community. All funds raised for the Worcestershire 2022 Festival Appeal will be distributed by the MCF in support of its initiatives

Who do we raise the money with?

Freemasonry is the name of our Ancient Fraternity, but of course we need an official place and charity name and number which is where the
Masonic Charitable Fund or MCF comes into play. https://mcf.org.uk

Funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF)  is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country.

They build better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education and promoting independence.
