On Saturday 3rd May 2025 at 19:30 hrs, there is to be a Concert by the Band of the Mercian Regiment, with support from the Choir, The Oakville Singers, and the Cathedral Organist coupled with Community Singing of WW2 favourite songs, all in the Nave of the Cathedral Worcester, to mark the beginning of a week of activities in the City and County to celebrate VEDay80.
Full details of the Event and the purchase of tickets is below. We very much hope you will be able to join us on the evening and indeed, hope you will be able to put together a party of Family and Friends to join in these celebrations.
The Concert is to raise funds for The Worcestershire Soldier at the Commandery Appeal. This move by the Museums of the Mercian Regiment (Worcestershire) and The Worcestershire Yeomanry Museum from their current home in the City Museum and Art Gallery to The Commandery, is to take place in late 2027 early 2028.
We have been successful in obtaining National Heritage Lottery Funding to develop the idea and with this Grant comes the need to raise funds; we are required to raise £100,000 as match funding. We do hope you will be able to join us in a night of wonderful military music, choral singing and nostalgia with the knowledge that monies raised will go directly to our appeal. In anticipation of your help, the Museums thank you and very much hope to see you there.
